Ancient Egypt/Pyramids
Student Objectives: Students will create their own pyramids. Students will use the SQ3R strategy before and during reading. Students will write and record ideas.
Procedures: Springboard: Show a picture of a pyramid. "What do you think the Egyptians did with these structures?
"

Students will then review the materials about pyramids. Students will begin to create questions about their readings. Then they will search for the answers in their text books. Afterwards, they will write a paragraph to answer the questions. The teacher will then distribute four triangular cardboard pieces to each group. Students will glue the paragraphs to the cardboard pieces. (For instance, one piece of cardboard will contain one paragraph.) The pieces should be glued together to form a pyramid. At the end of the activity, students can present the pyramid to the class or to each other in the group. (Standard 2, "The student understands the world from its beginnings to the time of the Renaissance. Number 7: "Knows significant achievements in art and architecture in various urban areas and communities to the time of the Renaissance." Sunshine State Standards )
