First Day of School Ornaments
I always take a picture of my kindergartens on the first day of school.  I save the pictures until Christmas and make ornaments out of them.  I put the picture inside a wreath and write, "My First Day of School", on a bow with the year.

Gingerbread Hunt
We read the Gingerbread Boy book and then make a real one.  When we go to the cafeteria to pick him up, he is gone!  He leaves a note that he has run away.   We chase him around the school until we finally find him (usually in the principal's office).  After we eat him, we write a book about it.  I usually take photos of the whole event.  I get double prints.  I use one copy in the book and the other copy is for a sequencing exercise. The kids retell the story by putting the pictures in order. The kids each get a night to take the book home to share with their parents.

Christmas Craft Kids Will Love - Candy Sleigh
Materials:

Wrapping Paper tape scissors
2 tiny candy canes 1 box of snack size raisins 5 stick pack of gum (1 for each)
small flocked teddy bear
( you can get little Santa bears)
curling ribbon glue (hot or tacky)

Gift wrap the packs of gum and the raisins.  Tape the candy canes to the side of the packs of gum, curling upward. Then, put the box of raisins as either the back of the sleigh (standing up on top of the gum),or it can be laid down as a present (laying flat on top of the gum). Then tie some curling ribbon around the whole box of raisins and curl with scissors to make the bow (if used as the present). Both ways, the raisins are taped to the top of the gum opposite the end of the candy cane that curls upward. Then glue the flocked teddy bear either in front of the raisins, if used as a present, or on top of the gum with his back against the raisins, if you did it as a the back of the sleigh .  I hope you enjoy making these.

Christmas Candles
Each child brings: Two tapered candles, & two caps from aerosol spray cans
Teacher provides: assorted Christmas trimming and plaster of
Paris
Place candle inside the center ring of the spray can cap. Carefully pour plaster of Paris around the candle. Have child quickly stick in trimmings to his/her taste. Repeat with second candle. Send these home for child to give to his/her guardians. You may want to enlist parent help for this but it is worth it. The parents will say that this was a treasured item at Christmas for years.

I saw this idea and had to share it.  I didn't do it, so I can't explain the steps.  I would assume you would need some volunteer help!  It is on a block of wood.
